Suite à l'information qui sort aujourd'hui dans la presse sur la fonte "sans précédent"* du Groenland :

J'aimerais savoir où trouver des informations complémentaires sur le cycle de 150ans du Groenland dont il est fait état dans le communiqué de presse. J'ai essayé de chercher un peu mais là le web est submergé par la news donc il est plus difficile de retrouver l'information "de fond".

Pas d'infos sur le cycle de 150 ans, mais le communiqué de la NASA, c'est faire grand cas des quelques heures ce mois ci qui ont vu la température être au dessus du point de congélation de l'eau sur une bonne partie de l'ancien pays vert des viking. Reste à savoir combien de litres d'eau de cette fonte massive vont réellement faire monter la mer.

tout le monde parle du réchauffement climatique , mais le groenland d’où que le dit sk69202 , ce traduit part terre-verte , mais ici encore toutes gelée .

petite question ^^ si a l'origine ils avaient nommée ainsi est ce une mauvaise chose que la terre verte le redevienne ?

The study I am citing is Alley and Anandakrishnan, 1995, “Variations in melt-layer frequency in the GISP2 ice core: implications for Holocene summer temperatures in central Greenland” published in the Annals of Glaciology for establishing the long-term frequency of melt events at Summit , Greenland. And Clausen et al., 1988 Glaciological Investigations in the Crete area, Central Greenland: A search for a new deep-drilling site also published in Annals of Glaciology for an early reference to the 1889 melt event though as mentioned in the press release Kaitlin Keegan and her advisor Mary Albert at Dartmouth University have more recent research on this event and please contact them for additional specific information.

My comment shows that melt events have occurred at Summit in the past and I have quoted the longest-term average frequency of ~150 years (exactly 153 from the paper) over the past 10,000. Since this is an ice core record that frequency is for the location of Summit only. The frequency ranges from ~80 to 250 years over different sections of the GISP2 ice core, please see the paper for specifics.

At Summit, the deep ice core (GISP2) reaches a depth of about 3km with the oldest ice being about 123,000 years old. Alley and Anandakrishnan’s paper looks at the ice just below the firn, and into the last 10,000 years. In the past 10,000 years (the Holocene), there is on average a melt layer every 150 years.
